“It was regrettable. It was essentially an exchange with our fans seated near me,” Jones explained during a radio appearance. “Present was a large group of Cowboys fans—not New York fans, our fans. The whole venue was brimming with excitement for the Dallas team.”
Jones additionally clarified that the gesture was entirely unintentional, happening amid the excitement following the team’s last score. “I simply put up the wrong digit,” he noted. “The action was inadvertently done. I’m not kidding. If you want to call it unplanned, you can. But it got resolved pretty quick.”
